Dr Mervyn Davies Mervyn is a Roman Catholic layman and Director of Academic Programmes and Tutor Librarian who has been a member of Wesley College staff since 1992. He has a background in both secondary and higher education and for 11 years was Principal of a sixth form college.

He has many years' experience in leadership training and consultancy for the churches in the region and is part of a team of consultants for the Diocese of Bath and Wells. He contributes to the teaching of theology and postgraduate supervision at the University of Bristol's Department of Theology and Religious Studies in Theology and continues to research in the fields of leadership and Newman studies, and has been responsible particularly for the development of postgraduate studies at Wesley.

He is currently President of the Bristol Theological Society and lectures widely on Newman and on Church Leadership. He is a former member of the British Methodist/Roman Catholic Committee.
