 Resources > College Library

Wesley College has an extensive library, comprising some 38,000 volumes covering Biblical studies, church history, systematic theology, the philosophy of religion, ethics, world religions, liturgy, and spirituality. Naturally all aspects of Methodist history and doctrine are strongly represented.

The library subscribes to more than sixty periodicals, and has a further large collection of older journals, including some rare titles. The collection of the Methodist Church Music Society is housed here on permanent loan.

To support the teaching of Deacons and Pastoral Liturgy students of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Clifton, the diocesan liturgy collection is on loan in the library.

The Library now incorporates the holdings of the former Bristol District Resource Centre, which include practically related books and multi-media resources available to students and for loan to members of local churches.

The library's primary function is to support the teaching and learning undertaken at Wesley College. Students have some reciprocal rights to use the libraries of our sister institutions in the Bristol Federation for Theological Education, Trinity College and Bristol Baptist College.

The computerised library catalogue can be accessed via Moodle, the College's on-line learning environment, and from the college website. Students will find other helpful library information and updates posted on Moodle. Wi-fi access is available in the library.

Enquiries about using the library from students of other institutions should be addressed to the Librarian. A letter of introduction will normally be required.
